TriCounty Community Network: A Case Study in Nonprofit-for-Nonprofits Website Design

TriCounty Community Network A Nonprofit For Nonprofits

TriCounty Community Network (TCN) is a 501(c)(3) "nonprofit for nonprofits" based in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, that strengthens communities by empowering local nonprofit organizations and residents with the resources to be resilient and sustainable. When TCN approached me, they needed a website that could serve two distinct audiences at once: nonprofit leaders looking for support, training, and partnership, and community members searching for resources, events, and ways to get involved. The result is a robust, purposeful site that does both without losing clarity.

Project Overview:

The primary objective was to create a website that clearly communicates TCN's dual mission while supporting a deep catalog of programs and services, from fiscal sponsorship and nonprofit membership to the TCN Community Fund and an aggregated regional events calendar. The site needed to give each program room to breathe, make donation and volunteer pathways obvious, and handle an ongoing stream of events and resources without becoming overwhelming.

Design Approach:

The design balances professionalism with warmth. A clean layout with approachable imagery, clear section breaks, and a confident color palette keeps the site feeling organized even with a high volume of content. The homepage opens with a direct call to action ("Because Our Community Needs You") and moves through TCN's impact metrics, positioning (Growth Engine, Convener, Catalyst), upcoming events, and program overviews, giving visitors multiple natural entry points into the organization's work.

Key Features:

  1. Dual-Audience Information Architecture: The site is thoughtfully structured to serve both nonprofit leaders and community members, with clear menu pathways into Nonprofit Support and Community Needs & Focus Areas.
  2. Regional Events Calendar: A dynamic events system aggregates programming from TCN, its nonprofit members, and C3 Collaborative, giving the community a single place to find workshops, galas, fundraisers, and training opportunities.
  3. Program and Service Pages: Dedicated pages for Membership, Fiscal Sponsorship, Nonprofit Support, and the TCN Community Fund give each initiative the space it needs to explain benefits, eligibility, and next steps.
  4. Impact Counters: Animated counters on the homepage highlight the number of nonprofit partners served and funds raised, reinforcing credibility at first glance.
  5. Multi-Pathway Giving: Donation flows support both general giving and campaign-specific efforts like Operation Holiday and Lamp Post Sponsorship, plus a Pay Invoice option for fee-based services.
  6. Testimonials Gallery: A visual testimonials section shares stories from the community in an image-forward format that stands out without interrupting flow.
  7. Content Management System (CMS): Built on WordPress with Divi, the site gives the TCN team the ability to post events, update program details, and manage content across a busy calendar of activity.
  8. Responsive Design and Social Integration: Fully responsive across devices, with Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram connections in the footer for ongoing community engagement.

Outcome:

The final website gives TCN a strong, flexible platform for the many facets of their work. Nonprofit leaders can quickly find the support and services they need, community members have clear pathways to resources and volunteer opportunities, and the TCN team has an easy-to-manage site that keeps up with their active programming. The site functions as a true community hub for the TriCounty region.

Conclusion:

The TriCounty Community Network project is a great example of how a well-planned website can serve multiple audiences without compromise. By investing in clear structure, meaningful content organization, and flexible tools, TCN now has a digital home that fully reflects the breadth and depth of their work supporting nonprofits and the communities they serve.
